Mika began Pilates while cross-training for a half marathon and found a community, stronger arms, and an escape from her busy life! She aims to build confidence and strength in a fun, engaging, inclusive setting. When not at the studio, Mika can be found enjoying a drink at a bar, running around Capitol Hill, or taking a nap with her cat, Doris.

Mia is a contemporary Pilates Reformer instructor, who comes to Reformation Fitness after teaching for 5+ years in the DC area. She discovered Pilates Reformer while looking for an activity to complement her time in a traditional gym, and quickly found that the practice was an active form of meditation with unexpected results. Mia's classes aim to help people develop strength, in mind and body, through fun and innovative choreographed movements.

Addy's background is in Ashtanga yoga, and the desire to build strength alongside mind-body awareness, brought her to Pilates. Addy was immediately drawn to the community at Reformation Fitness and strives to create a light-hearted, inclusive space in her classes. Outside of the studio Addy likes to cycle and play softball.

Beth grew up in northern Michigan riding ATVs in the woods, and enjoyed riding horses, dance, and gymnastics. As an adult, she found a fitness family with strength training and Crossfit where she enjoyed doing local individual and team competitions. During this time, she found her passion for coaching and helping people achieve their health and wellness goals as a Level 1 CrossFit coach for 8+ years. She brings a focus on good movement patterns through technique and having fun in the gym as her philosophy to coaching and her own personal fitness. She is excited to be a part of the Reformation community!
Beth Barrett
Cory’s passion for group fitness started with his personal weight loss journey. Embracing a healthy diet and the complements of fitness he lost over 200 lbs. Soon thereafter he began teaching indoor cycling, HIIT, and strength training. In Cory’s classes you can always count on great playlists, high energy, and a supportive focus on good form.

Matt Bylis is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, AFAA Certified Group Fitness Instructor, and Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher. He has been leading yoga and fitness classes in DC since 2018. Originally from the Baltimore area, Matt is a former television newscaster and now works in public relations full-time.

Brian (he/him) brings Chicago charisma and charm to his classes. When he's not coaching, Brian works in vaccine programs globally and attends Georgetown University for graduate school. Mike believes what sets Reformation Fitness apart is the warm environment that welcomes all levels and ages. As a coach he loves those little "ah-ha" moments at the gym when someone does something just a little better. When not coaching at Reformation you can find Mike riding his bike in Rock Creek Park or along the C&O Canal Trail. He's also a coach for the Middle School Soccer Team at KIPP WILL, just a few blocks from the gym. @madebymike_vc.

Natalie Clark (she/her) is an energizing and encouraging teacher whose classes are challenging & transformative. She believes that all movement is valuable, and that mindful movements promote growth. Natalie credits her Dad with instilling in her the compassion that allows her to support others in their growth. Natalie also teaches yoga and was voted 2nd Place for DC’s Best Yoga Teacher by Washington City Paper in 2023!

Julia comes to Reformation with a dance background, which sparked a love for all kinds of movement including Reformer, strength training, yoga and HIIT. With a focus on technique, Julia is excited to help her Reformer clients hone in on their form to take their practice to the next level while creating challenging and fun classes.

Originally from Orange County, CA, Jenna (she/her) moved to DC in 2007 and currently enjoys boxing, yoga, Pilates Reformer and lifting heavy things when she’s not at her 9-5 as a Sr. Contracts Administrator. She started her teaching journey in the summer of 2018. Reformation Fitness had become her new fitness home due to its strong sense of community, inclusion, and joy. Jenna lives for the aha! moments when an exercise finally “clicks” for a student. She enjoys coming up with creative ways to challenge her students and often brings in things from other fitness disciplines to compliment her Pilates classes. She encourages all the laughs in her classes, especially when queuing her team to “hulk smash” during those heavy chest flys.

For Michelle fitness has long been a source of both fun and stress release. She has a very athletic background and grew up participating in multiple sports. Michelle fell in love with Pilates after foot surgery. She enjoys the inclusive community at Reformation and strives to make classes accessible to all fitness levels. Michelle's mantra is challenge and fun. Outside the studio you'll find Michelle enjoying the outdoors.

A San Diego native, Geny has competed at the top levels of soccer her entire life, playing four years of Division I soccer at Yale and for the Northern Ireland FA Cup champions after college. She holds her NASM CPT. Geny joined the RefFitFam in spring of 2021 and instantly felt a part of this wonderful community. She loves building relationships with clients, meeting new people during class, and seeing athletes of all ages and with varying experience crush a workout.

KK is a Baltimore native who began her Pilates journey in 2017 while living in Seoul, Republic of Korea. She joined Reformation Fitness in 2021 and proudly calls Capitol Hill her home! Her passion for Pilates, along with her love of the Reformation community, steered her toward the in-house Reformer Teacher Training program at Reformation Fitness. KK offers a cheerful, fun and encouraging class.
KK de Waal
After practicing Pilates for years, Annie decided to start teaching. She loves how Pilates combines mind and body for a full workout and having a captivate audience for cheesy cat stories is a win as well! Annie will always be a Californian at heart, but has made her home in Washington, DC since moving here in 2019. Working in broadcast news (hence the most professional bio picture ever), Annie has lived all over the country. Before moving to the District, Annie worked in Louisiana, Virginia, Kentucky, and San Francisco.

Sue has been part of the Reformation Fitness family since 2014 and has enjoyed teaching many different formats during that time. Whether teaching Tread and Shred or Pilates, she’s always got a smile and brings a balance and mindfulness to her classes. In her full-time job, as a social worker, she walks alongside pregnant women and families to find the encouragement and supports they need to thrive.

Melanie is a Maryland native who has called DC home for over 10 years! A former dancer, she began taking class at Reformation Fitness in 2014 and fell in love with the Reformer and started teaching in 2019. Melanie loves to continue to find creative new ways to utilize the Reformer and is excited to share her passion for Reformer Pilates. She is always up for an adventure, and when not in the studio loves to explore all that DC has to offer especially if it involves food!

Jeneva Hinojosa has been practicing Pilates for over 20 years and has been teaching for 12. Her classes are accessible for all levels and combine both classical and contemporary movement. Her favorite thing about teaching is watching people grow and experience the many benefits a low impact, mind-body focused, exercise routine can bring to every day life.

Lucy began taking Pilates Reformer classes at Reformation in 2018 to complement her work as a barre instructor. She quickly became hooked on the mental and physical challenges of Pilates Reformer as well as the friendly, supportive atmosphere at Reformation. Outside of the studio, Lucy can be found searching the Little Free Libraries for her next book or enjoying a glass of orange wine.

Mike teaches a fast paced, fun-filled class focused on helping each individual student achieve their fitness goals. He has a special ability to meet each student where they’re at, even in a group class, and really loves seeing students progress over time. As one of the co-owners of Reformation Fitness Mike’s priority is to make sure everyone feels safe, welcome, and challenged to achieve their fitness goals. If you want to get him off topic ask him about his fur babies, or latest gardening endeavors.

Nicole teaches challenging, light-hearted (think corny puns) classes that will leave you feeling stronger physically and more focused mentally. Nicole is a USAW Level 1 Certified Coach and maintains a varied fitness routine including Pilates and Olympic lifting. Nicole believes that fitness should support your life and, as one of the co-owners of Reformation Fitness, endeavors to encourage students to see fitness as a metaphor for life. Show up, do your best, and try to stay grateful for the people around you.
Nicole Kaib
Ori’s entry into group fitness was coaching indoor cycling. She wanted to share her love of movement with others and help everyone feel comfortable and welcome in group exercise. Now, Ori teaches a variety of group fitness classes, including bootcmap and TRX, but stays close to the ReFitFam because of their heart, curiosity, and sense of community. She focuses on creating an inclusive, safe environment so participants can assess what feels right for their bodies exploring the challenge and purpose behind each rep. Deidre (she/her) found Pilates in 2023 after a fibromyalgia diagnosis and immediately fell in love. Expect Deidre’s classes to provide an inclusive and fun environment for students of all athletic abilities, retro tunes, and a great full-body workout! When she’s not in the Pilates studio, you can most often find Deidre at another kind of studio - the pottery studio!

Kate has been doing Pilates since she was a teenager but re-committed to Pilates Reformer following a back injury in 2021. She joined the Reformation Fitness family when she moved to Capitol Hill in 2023. Kate was drawn to Reformation, and decided to start teaching, because of the inclusiveness of the community and is passionate about creating an accessible and fun fitness vibe in her every individual! When not at her desk job or in the studio, Kate likes to sew, watch reality TV, and take her dog Louise to the park.

Lauri fell in love with Reformer Pilates in 2008 and hasn’t looked back. Lauri has been teaching and practicing yoga since 2012 and regularly incorporates Pilates as a complement to her yoga practice. Lauri graduated from the Reformation Fitness Reformer Teacher Training Program and strives to bring a sense of joy, fun, and intention to all of the classes she teaches. Outside of yoga and Reformer Pilates Lauri also enjoys boxing and generally staying active.

JoEllen has casually practiced Reformer Pilates for the past several years, but amped it up in 2022 after a series of injuries in which Pilates was the one workout she was able to continue practicing (with modifications). Since then, she has appreciated the physical and mental challenge Reformer Pilates brings and hopes to convey that in her classes...alongside a healthy dose of humor, fun, and good music.

Molly came to weightlifting during a challenging time in her life as a way to get stronger both physically and mentally. Strength training had such a positive impact on her life that she wanted to share her experience with others. The small class size allows for a level of focus on form and technique resonates with her teaching style. Molly is a long time member of the Reformation Fitness community and loves coaching and bringing new people to the family!

Grace has ten years of teaching barre and youth ballet, all while practicing Reformer throughout. She is so excited to have you in class and share joyful movement with the Reformation community. Grace hopes you have a blast in class, she is a firm believer in movement that is fun and functional, otherwise it isn’t sustainable. When she is not in class you can find her drinking coffee, dancing in a ballet class, or baking along with the Great British Bake Off.

Ashley is a Kansas native who relocated to Washington DC in 2019, and joined the Reformation Fitness family in 2021 after a decades-long yoga practice. Ashley is eager to share the transformative benefits of Pilates with her students and was drawn to teaching at Reformation Fitness because of its welcoming and encouraging community! When not at the studio, Ashley is usually on an adventure, exploring new places.
Ashley Riggs
Originally from San Diego, Natalie has been a DC resident since 2009. She enjoys teaching at Reformation Fitness because of the space to create and teach a class that she would want to take. Natalie maintains a regular meditation practice and her classes often focus on mindful, controlled movements to settle the nervous system as well as strengthen the body. She also tries to incorporate regular cardio into her life and enjoys taking advantage of some of the parks and trails in the area.

Nora Sanzo, CSCS, a native Texan, has been a part of the DMV fitness community since she decided to move to the East coast for college. Nora returns to Reformation Fitness after several years in Clemson, SC and Boston, MA, where she had the opportunity to lead personal training efforts for Clemson University and coach the Club Powerlifting team for Northeastern University. As a competitive powerlifter herself, she is a firm believer that strength training is for everyone. Whether it’s your very first time picking up a barbell or you attend classes daily, you belong!
Nora Sanzo
Katy focuses on teaching classes that are challenging and fun while making them accessible to all clients. She started regularly practicing Pilates after an injury in 2017 and continues practicing so she can stay injury-free. When she’s not in the Reformer studio she can be found rowing on the Anacostia or traveling and eating delicious food.

Marie loves to teach challenging classes that are accessible to everyone. Marie fell in love with fitness because it made her feel strong and capable and that is what she hopes to bring to her students. Lizzy grew up doing gymnastics in a group fitness setting and loved the camaraderie. As an adult she was excited to find Reformation Fitness and the ‘team sports feel’ of their small group classes. Lizzy decided to start coaching both to grow as an athlete, but also to support new athletes in their fitness journey. As both a coach and athlete Lizzy is quick with a smile and a helping hand, hoping to help others fall in love with Reformation and make it their fitness home too!

Emily is a Reformation Fitness enthusiast turned instructor! She completed her Reformer training in the hope of sharing her love of Pilates with her neighbors in Capitol Hill. Emily brings a welcoming energy to her classes with a great playlist to match your workout! She hopes you leave her class feeling stronger than when you walked in and grateful for the things your body can do. Outside of the studio, Emily keeps busy with her book club rotation, film photography, and following professional tennis.

Kennedy started her fitness journey at the age of three as a swimmer. Her first job was as a swim instructor in Houston, Texas. When the pandemic hit and pools were no longer available, her fitness focus shifted to mat Pilates. After moving to DC in 2021, she discovered Reformation Fitness and a new love for Reformer Pilates. Kennedy joined the Reformation team working at the front desk and after observing all the wonderful Reformation teachers, realized she wanted to become an instructor. Outside the studio Kennedy enjoys swimming, boxing, and indoor rock climbing.

Erin began teaching Pilates at Reformation Fitness to share her love of restorative, challenging, and low impact workouts. Originally from Wisconsin, she now lives in Capitol Hill and enjoys yoga, traveling, and spending time outdoors. Expect challenging but chill classes with Erin and to leave feeling a little more grounded than when you started.

Kat Torre, PT, DPT, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, RRCA Certified Running Coach
Kat graduated from Georgetown University with her Bachelor’s in Health Science and went on to the University of Miami to complete her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2012. She previously worked in Dallas, TX after graduating and relocated to the DC area in 2015. She initially worked for a group of Orthopedic Surgeons in Rosslyn, VA before joining Pure Sports Physical Therapy in the fall of 2022. She is specialized in foot and ankle diagnoses and hip labral tears and dysfunction. She loves working with athletes (especially runners) on return to sports programs, and utilizes both dry needling and Graston® technique in her practice. Her practice is located inside of the Shaw Reformation Fitness location (1218 9th St NW) right next to the Pilates studio. Come by and say hi!

Justine started taking Pilates classes in 2018 and fell in love with the workout. She started taking Reformer classes at Reformation in
2019 and immediately felt welcome and learned more about the mind-body connection that Pilates fosters. Justine started her instructor journey in 2021 after wanting to learn more about Pilates and help others fall in love with the workout like she did.When Justine is not doing pilates she loves to travel and experiment with new recipes.
Justine Tripathi
Driven by the principle that strength training can benefit everybody, Nick began coaching at Reformation Fitness in 2015. As the head MetCon coach, he programs the workouts for the entire studio with the primary goal of making them modifiable and accessible for people of all fitness levels. Nick brings a methodical and comprehensive approach to each workout, spending a couple of minutes before each class explaining what you’re doing, why you’re doing it, and what it should “feel like.” He prides himself on optimizing form and technique to improve efficiency and mitigate injuries. Outside the gym, you might see Nick on Capitol Hill lobbying members of Congress to improve access to children’s health care or debunking fitness/nutrition myths on Instagram @coachnicklifts.

Julie grew up in Hyattsville, MD playing multiple sports, including four years of basketball at Dickinson College. She was first introduced to Reformation Fitness through the Saturday Sweat Sesh classes and loved the fun, community driven atmosphere. Julie started coaching and hopes to create classes that feel safe, accessible, and enjoyable to everyone!
